The Clare Valley is the most northern small wine region in the South Australia wine area and as well one of the oldest, located 130 km north from Adelaide. It is best known for its Riesling wines, often being called the home of Australian Riesling with examples which are some of the best in the world, but all white grape varieties thrive in this Mediterranean like cooler climate, such as Chardonnay, Viognier and Sémillon. The Clare Valley's red wines from Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are also highly regarded. The region's unique combination of geography, geology and climate results in terroir that is perfect for producing world-class vibrant wines.
